A fertile, citrus-producing area irrigated by the waters of the Hartebeespoort
Dam. 
To the South of Brits, beneath a karee tree, the armistice treaty
of the Boer Civil War was signed in 1864 and, nearby De Wildt station,
a famous speech by General Hertzog in 1912led to the formation of the
National Party.
Founded in 1924 on the farm Roode Kopjes, it was named for the owner
Gert Brits.
Activities
Tilodi Wilderness
A private game reserve and wilderness area in the heart of the bushveld.
Some 4 000 ha (10 000 acres) of rolling hills, wetlands and seasonal
rivers with wonderful bird life and great opportunities for game viewing.
De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre 
Renowned throughout the world for its success in breeding and studying
cheetah, king cheetah, brown hyena, suni, blue duiker and wild dogs.
Finfoot Lake Reserve
Chalet accomodation and canoeing, game drives, swimming, mountain biking,
fishing and bush walks.
Nature Reserves
The town's surrounding area boasts numerous well-stocked game reserves
offering varying vegetation, animal species and types of accommodation.
Peace Tree
The tree at which the peace negotiations between the state representative
and the people's leader took place after the Battle of Crocodile River
in 1864.
Carousel Entertainment Complex
Show bars, boxing matches, theme restaurants, cinemas, live entertainment,
and video arcades.
Heritage Route
For the ideal selfdrive route start at the World Heritage Site of Stekfontein
Caves and continue onto Hartbeespoort Dam, Rustenburg Nature Reserve,
Pilanesberg and Sun City.
