Hartenbos Beach near Mossel Bay is a wide sandy beach that’s perfect for families, swimming, surfing and walking. Near the beach are many restaurants, shops and a heated indoor swimming pool.
Wheelchair access to the beach is via a number of ramps. The public ablutions and other facilities are excellent and there is adequate parking. Mossel Bay is considered by many to be the westernmost extent of the “real” Garden Route. It’s a rather sprawling town and it has some of the most wonderful beaches that are amongst the sunniest in South Africa as they are north-facing.
Being the gateway to the garden route you are not far from the most stunning scenery: mountains, rivers, forests, the Klein Karoo just across the mountain. There are even a couple of wine estates to visit. Hiking and cycling are ideal activities.
