Last week in it's quarterly bulletin the reserve bank indicated that a number of factors were contributing to their concerns about the inflation outlook. This includes the outlook for the rand, the widening current account deficit, oil prices, food prices and consumer demand. “All of these factors in combination could well serve to ensure consumers enjoy a slightly less festive season this year with their rands not going as far as they did last year”.

South Africa: Locals Go Home Shopping in Mauritius

MOST of the sales of units in a new Mauritian development called Anahita went to people from SA and the UK.

Playground Real Estate Sales SA, the sales and marketing agent for the integrated resort scheme development on the east coast of Mauritius, said that there was a 100% sellout of its first phase in six hours.

The group said the success followed a marketing campaign in London, Paris and Johannesburg.
