The SA Reserve Bank's (SARB) Monetary Policy Committee took a decision this week to raise the repo rate by 50 basis points to 8.5 percent. Governor Tito Mboweni, addressing journalists following Thursday's MPC meeting, warned that risks to the inflation outlook remained. The increase was in line with expectations and another raise is forecast towards the end of 2006.
