Costs involved in selling your R1 million home

You'd expect to make some money when you sell your R1 million home but there are some costs you need to work into your budget before you spend that money. Some of the costs are uppermost in your mind, like the chunk of money you're going to pay the estate agents, and some are not so obvious.

>> HOMELOANS - How much can you afford?

Most homebuyers accept as a fact of life that the property that really offers everything on their "wish list" will always be just beyond the home-buying budget they’ve set themselves.

"This happens to buyers right across the price spectrum," says Rudi Botha, CEO of mortgage originator PA BetterBond, "and usually the response is a compromise — or rather, a decision to sacrifice some of the items on the wish list in order to stay within budget...

>> Transfers take time

Home buyers — especially first time purchasers — are often puzzled by the length of time it takes before they are able to take ownership of their new property and go through unnecessary anxiety because they don't understand the conveyancing process.

This is the opinion of "Mac" van der Merwe, chairman of the the Zorgvliet group of companies whose assets include the Ka'Ingo Private Reserve in the Waterberg region of Limpopo province...

>> Have fun - Cleaning and sealing Outdoor Wood

Wood that is used to construct boat docks, decks, handrails, picnic tables or any other horizontal outdoor surface is subjected to the absolute harshest weathering conditions. Unprotected wood absorbs enormous amounts of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. UV rays can actually blast apart the lightning that bonds wood fibers together.
