Dear Reader,

Washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, Durban, KwaZulu Natal, with its subtropical coastline, Durban, which is often referred to as South Africa’s Miami Beach, is to enjoy temperatures between 11° and 28° this week and is generally blessed with balmy weather all year round, making it a perfect holiday paradise, especially in rather cold winter’s time.

Durban also is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the world; its port is the busiest in South Africa and also one of the 10 largest in the world. In terms of business, the city already has a good reputation and the solid foundations upon which the economy can grow, being South Africa's second largest industrial hub. The city is a mix of racial and cultural diversity, with its African, Asian and European influences creating a vibrant cosmopolitan society. The EMA currently has an estimated population of just over 3 million people, where a house with a past demands an owner who can imagine its future! Read more in Focus on.

Focusing on interior styling: Middle Eastern style has faded, Americana and traditional English have blossomed and are now among new directions in home furnishings. Americana and American country will be strong, but they will be modernized for the 21st century. Find out about the recently emerged new trend that is all about comfort - physical comfort as well as comfort for the heart - and about nostalgia in Have Fun today.

It was love at first sight – and I am not going to say more!

>> Have fun!!

A house with a past demands an owner who can imagine its future. For designer Steven Gambrel that means more than simply bringing the wiring up to code and buying the latest plasma screen.

Located not far from the waterfront of the old Long Island whaling town of Sag Harbor, Gambrel's country house has a potent history. It was erected in 1810 as a Methodist church, transformed in 1835 into a Catholic chapel, and converted in 1855 to a school...

1,100 Realtors from 28 countries attend NAR convention. Of the South Africans, one group of 80 was attending the NAR convention as part of a tour organized by Cherie Eilertson. Other South Africans were part of smaller groups, or came on their own.

Eilertson, a well known South African real estate trainer and motivational speaker, organized her group for Nedcor Bank. She said she first attended a NAR convention five years ago, and felt the experience was so worthwhile that she has since been recruiting ever growing numbers of her compatriots to make the long trip to America each November.

Shawn Mackrell, an agent with the Realty Executives franchise in Glenvista, South Africa, said the technology on display will almost certainly play a major role in the way he markets and sells real estate.
