Weekly Property News
01 April 2011

Dear Reader

Where are the "good ole days".

With this statement I am refering to when an estate agent was a mediator between buyers and sellers. You were contacted by a Seller, you find a buyer and a sale is made.

Nowadays an estate agent needs more than just an office to work from. They need a "Professional Estate Agent NQF Level 4" qualification and they have to specialise in Real Estate Marketing, Property Management, Valuations and Property Investments They need special training from the Estate Agency Affairs Board in terms of the new regulations for Estate Agents and Principals They need to be aware and live by the "Credit Act".

Some may say that it has gone too far, but most agree that these regulations are good for the Real Estate Market of South Africa.
The consumer, been a buyer or a seller, can now rest asured that the service provided is of the highest standard, delivered by a trained specialist and has checks and balances to promote and assure the consumer that his/her best interests are catered for.

Food for thought.
