In the area 1 – Lamberts Bay

The picturesque West Coast village of Lamberts Bay started with humble beginnings as a fishing village. This seaside town has blossomed into a tranquil West Coast getaway destination, and is often thought of as the seafood hotspot of the West Coast. Lamberts Bay is also known as the Diamond of the West Coast and the crayfish Mecca of South Africa.

But this tranquil seaside town has a lot more than fish on offer. Renowned for long stretches of pure white beaches, abundant marine life, the Bird Island and open air restaurants, Lamberts Bay is a popular destination for those looking for sea adventures, bird watching and wild field flower viewing. Recreational activities include golf, diving, surfing, fishing, 4x4 routes, hiking trails and more.

Property investors looking for an idyllic location in which to invest in a holiday home need look no further. Linda de Boer, Broker/Owner of the recently acquired RE/MAX Blue Waters franchise, says the property market in Lamberts Bay has been performing exceptionally well considering the economic climate, and notes that it is the well priced homes that have sold quickly.

De Boer says that entry level homes in Lamberts Bay can be acquired for around R700 000, while middle of the range properties sell from R1-million upwards and the most expensive homes in the area have price tags of around R3-million.

“Buyers are specifically looking for holiday homes or investments (rental property) and Lamberts Bay does have a shortage of rental homes,” says de Boer.

RE/MAX Blue Waters is based in Lamberts Bay and also operates in the surrounding areas of Elands bay, Redelinghuys, Graafwater, Strandfontein and Clan William.

When asked why she decided to join the RE/MAX brand, de Boer said that the company was one of the few agencies not represented in the area. “We did our homework and liked the whole RE/MAX concept of being in business for ourselves, but not by ourselves.” She says that in a small town like Lamberts Bay, you do need a good brand behind you to succeed in this business.

Says Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa: “We are delighted to welcome RE/MAX Blue Waters into the RE/MAX family, and believe that Lamberts Bay is a prime West Coast investment destination that is sought after by those looking for a scenic retreat.”

Goslett says that properties in this area generally offer value for money and, with the biggest demand for holiday homes and rental properties, the area has a lot of return on investment potential for the buyer.

“While Lamberts Bay may be considered a ‘primitive’ and undeveloped West Coast town, it is the peaceful, secure atmosphere which draws potential buyers. A big bonus is that as a coastal town, it doesn’t matter where you buy property because you will still be within walking distance from the beach,” de Boer concludes.
