Chance to buy a piece of top resort
The new cottage suites at Woodridge Country Estate will be set in rolling gardens overlooking the Balgowan valley and adjacent to a nature reserve where guests can walk among the animals. They can be placed in the hotel rental pool to generate income for the owners.

Woodridge Country Estate in Kwa-Zulu Natal has recently received approval to construct a sectional title development within the estate borders, thereby providing investors with the opportunity to own property on the estate.

Located in the heart of the KZN midlands next to Michaelhouse school and overlooking the beautiful Balgowan valley, Woodridge Country Estate offers four-star accommodation and facilities and is a favourite for conferences and weddings.

Guests and owners have access to trout fishing, golf and horse riding and can go for walks in the neighbouring Woodridge Nature Reserve. They can also make use of a mini-spa and the two top-notch restaurants serving gourmet African cuisine.

And now buyers have an opportunity to build their own accommodation on separately subdivided portions of land within the grounds, all of which have been sited to maximise privacy. Owners can build their own cottage suites or select one from a range of estate-approved design options.

When the owners are not in residence, their suites can be used by the hotel in a rental pool arrangement, and owners will receive 70% of the rental revenue.

Henri de Rauville, manager of the Chas Everitt International franchise mandated to market the development, describes Woodridge as an investors’ dream in that prospects for good medium-term capital returns are excellent.

Another factor bolstering the estate’s appeal is the fact that no other construction can take place in the immediate area, thus eliminating the threat of overdevelopment or obstructed views, says franchise principal Msizi Malinga. “And the idea has really taken off. Of the 20 suites that have been made available, six have already been sold.”

Packages including land are selling at between R2m and R3,2m and the next show days for the development are 26 March and 13 April.
