Several Aida agents were among the large group of newly-qualified
real estate interns that gathered at the Ditasa headquarters recently
to receive their certification.

The first group of estate agents sponsored by the Services Seta to gain
practical experience and training as real estate interns has qualified
after an intensive six-month programme.
More than 100 agents from around the country received their certification
at a recent ceremony held in Centurion at the offices of the Development
Institute and Training Academy of Southern Africa (Ditasa), which managed
the internship programme.
And among them were Aida agents Lawrence Pearce and Ansie Cilliers from
the property groups Centurion franchise and Shadrack Chawane,
Lezette Coetzee and Louis Sibuyi from the Hazyview franchise.
We are very proud of these agents, says Aida CEO Young Carr.
They are well on their way now to being fully qualified in terms
of the new real estate education requirements which provide for a full
learnership at NQF4 level or, in the case of agents already working, for
a comprehensive Recognition of Prior Learning programme.
Aida is a strong supporter of this new education dispensation as
we believe it will be of great benefit to property consumers while also
increasing the professionalism of the real estate industry and improving
its credibility. Properly qualified agents are definitely the way of the
future.
However, we are also well aware that it is often a challenge for
newly-qualified agents to go beyond theory and gain the practical knowledge
and skills needed to succeed in the workplace, which is why we wholeheartedly
support the internship idea and hope the programme will be expanded in
future.
