False Bay coastline spans from Muizenberg through St James, Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek, to Simon's Town, for many years the site of a major British naval base

This coast was Cape Town's first fashionable bathing area, particularly as the water here is 5-7 degrees warmer that on the Atlantic Coast. There are many good beaches here, with the best being Muizenberg, St James with its brightly coloured bathing booths and tidal pool, Fish Hoek and Boulder's Beach just beyond Simon's Town. Boulders Beach is a pay-for-entry beach that adjoins a sanctuary for the African Penguin. The high boulders and protected site make this intimate beach a wonderful spot for children.

This area has cultural and historical treasures, such as the Natale Labia Museum in Muizenberg, but its an area for enjoying the sea. Lunch close to breakers, and maybe even whales, in Kalk Bay, Simon's Town or Miller's Point.

After this, one moves to the Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point, one of the Cape's major tourist attractions. There is an ostrich farm near Cape Point, and lots of curio vendors ply their trade here.
