In the area 1 – Helderberg
No winter chill for Chas Everitt Helderberg

There may be more cold fronts coming, but the team at the Chas Everitt Helderberg office already have spring fever following a record month in July in which they notched up home sales worth more than R32m.

And, says agency principal Joan Gibb, this does not seem to be a flash in the pan. “There are definite signs that the market is improving right across the Helderberg. Since April we have seen a consistent monthly increase in sales and activity, which means we have still more sales in the pipeline now, mostly just waiting for bond approvals.”

The total number of home sales the agency made in July was 16, she says, and the properties ranged from a starter home in Khayelitsha priced at R150 000 to an upmarket family home in Somerset West which sold for R4,5m.

The buyers were mainly South Africans and most were relocating in the Western Cape. There were two from upcountry and among the sellers there was only one overseas owner.

“However,” says Berry Everitt, CEO of the Chas Everitt International property group, “in the current market, sales don’t just happen by themselves. They are firstly dependent on agents like those in the Helderberg team who are passionate, committed and energized, and secondly reliant on excellent and consistent marketing initiatives.”

Gibb says that as a member of the Chas Everitt group her agency has the advantage of a sophisticated, user-friendly and high traffic website to reach buyers outside of its own area. “We are also staunch supporters of our local community newspaper and consistently distribute our own creative marketing material.

“Unlike many other local agencies, we have just kept going steadily in the past year despite all the industry doom and gloom, and now our clients are reaping the rewards as our efforts pay off. We are really delighted with July’s results and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.”
