Nedbank Property Professional Awards 2005

The sixth annual Nedbank Property Professional Awards dinner was recently held at the Michelangelo Hotel in Sandton. The annual presentation ceremony, awarded under the auspices of the Property Professional Club formally recognises the top real estate agents serving the residential property market. The master of ceremonies was Michael Jackson of Weekend Property, Summit TV and guest speaker was June Tudhope, managing director of Nedbank Home Loans. Both speakers charmed and delighted the audience.

This year’s awards attracted record entries on a national basis. Qualifying criteria was based on highest turnover in value and unit sales as well as the agent’s personal contribution to the industry and community involvement. The ultimate winner is decided by the Club’s Board of Trustees and was chosen from the industry’s top 10 finalists. This year’s winner of the ‘Nedbank Property Professional of the year’ award was Jacques Bronkhorst, owner of Johannesburg Southern Suburbs-based estate agency Pulse Realty.

The award carries a trip for two to the National Association of Realtors Convention and Expo in San Francisco, California. (The Star Society Pages)

Jo’burg Principal Takes Top Honours

Former SA schools cricketer Jacques Bronkhorst has been declared the 2005 winner of the Nedbank Property Professional of the Year Award.

Bronkhorst, owner of Johannesburg Southern Suburbs-based estate agency Pulse Realty, emerged the winner from among 10 finalists after a full day of judging last week by the Property Professional Club board of trustees.

He launched Pulse Realty in 2002, having joining the industry eight years earlier after injury terminated a promising sporting career. The trustees recognised the rapid growth of the business and outstanding market penetration coupled with Bronkhorst's commitment to service excellence and high ethics.

The Cape Town partnership of Steve Dawson and Gail de Jager, of RE/MAX Property Associates in Tableview, were runners up in this the sixth year of the awards, while Marilize Portella, owner of the eponymous estate agency in Port Elizabeth was placed third.

The other finalists were: Adrian van Varik (Cape Town), Annelie Steynberg (Pretoria), Daisy Govender (Durban), Deo Swanepoel (Pretoria), Ken Clarke (Durban), Marianna Toweel du Trevou (Johannesburg), Monica Clarke (Cape Town), Nomsa Nene (Johannesburg) and Stella van Coller (Klerksdorp).

The awards are open to members of the Property Professional Club who have achieved sales worth more than R10-million (rural areas R7,5-million) or 40 sales in the 12-month judging period. However, the judges also take into account other criteria such as contribution to the real estate industry as a whole, service ethics, professionalism, community involvement, marketing and innovation, and commitment to education and leadership.
