Give
me enough coffee and I could rule the world. So runs the well known
maxim beloved of coffee addicts.
Anton du Plessis, CEO of Vineyard Estates, appears convinced that enough
(good) coffee could also sell houses.
He has recently invested in three state-of-the-art Bean to Cup coffee
machines which, he says, will be taken every weekend to three of Vineyard
Estates show houses.
The big advantage of these machines, said du Plessis, is
that they grind the beans and brew the coffee at high pressure at the
touch of a button. This allows us to offer our buyers world-class coffee
without distracting us from our core function of attending to other buyers'
questions and needs. Having followed the Sunday show house route from
2pm to 5pm as a buyer, I have all too often missed my mid-afternoon caffeine
fix and no doubt others have had the same experience.
Although our coffee is provided 'to go', I hope that at least a
few buyers will pause for a cup and that this will lead to their giving
the property a little more attention than they otherwise might have. We
are not going to go so far as to heat a teaspoon of vanilla essence in
the oven to create the aroma of cake baking as is suggested by some, but
we do believe that the smell of freshly ground coffee enhances the atmosphere
of any home.
