The Western Cape branch of the Inscape Design College has become another of the high profile buyers in Redefine Properties’ fully refurbished Buchanan Square in Woodstock. (The other college is in Johannesburg and another subsidiary is in the square’s refurbished armoury building.)

Inscape has purchased over 380m² and is, says the principal, Mornay Schoeman, delighted to have secured a base in what she describes as “the new home of Cape Town’s creative and artistic community”.

Inscape, which has now been in existence for 28 years, is the oldest privately owned multi-disciplinary design college in South Africa.

It offers its students three year degree or diploma courses in interior design and graphic design and ten month part time courses in interior decorating and architectural draughting.

The school keeps abreast of the latest developments in IT assisted design and offers a variety of short courses in these, including Autocad, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Aware of the discrepancies in the standard of living in SA, the school makes a point of involving its students with disadvantaged communities.

Ivo Nestel, the sales executive handling Buchanan Square said that to date over 7 000m² has been sold. Demand, says Nestel, is high with prices at Buchanan Square only from R7 500 per m².
