Western Cape Institute of Estate Agents lays on an update in property law

Anton du Plessis, the Chairman of the Peninsula branch of the Institute of South African estate agents, has urged all agents in his area to attend a talk by the high-profile lawyer, Milton Koumbatis which will take place at the River Club on Thursday the 15th of April at 3:00 pm.

Koumbatis will be talking on changes that have taken place in South African property law – some of which, says du Plessis, put a very different, new perspective on property dealings today.

“Property law,” said du Plessis, “is always being amended and on the whole each new change is an improvement – but it is very unwise to remain ignorant of these matters and those agents who do can be guilty of a disservice to their clients and to themselves.”

The meeting, which is scheduled to last two hours, will start at 3:00 pm and will be followed by a cheese and wine function. Du Plessis has pointed out that for the first time in a long while institute members will be able to meet and discuss any matter which concerns them with the entire Western Cape committee, all of whom will be present at the function.

“This type of interaction is vital to the wellbeing of the Institute,” said du Plessis. “Members are asked to make the most of the opportunity. There is a whole range of subjects on which we need to update opinions and canvas member’s views.”
