Rawson Properties expand into Paulshof and Sunninghill
David Wright, a former banker who specialised in asset based finance at WesBank has bought the franchise rights to the Paulshof/Sunninghill franchise in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.
Both areas, says Wright, are seeing ongoing development which is ideal for todays market because the vast majority of homes are in sectional title schemes and most are very competitively priced from R800 000 to R1,3 million.
Sales in many Johannesburg suburbs are now down 50% of the 2007 levels but in Paulshof and Sunninghill we are seeing increased activity month by month, he said, and prices are holding steady.
Paulshof and Sunninghill are becoming attractive and sought after, he said, because they are so strategically sited in relation to Sandton, the new CBD of Gauteng business.
This fact, coupled to the very competitive prices assures us of ongoing demand.
Rawson Properties, he said, is the only estate agency actually to have offices in Paulshof and this will help them to become the agency of choice in the area.
Wright is currently employing four agents but expects to raise this to eight by the year end.
Our challenge, he said, is to become known to local people and to get mortgage bonds for those whose financial situation qualifies them for a home purchase at these levels but there is absolutely no question that the demand for new homes at this level is exceptionally strong.
Sean McCauley, Rawson Properties Regional Director, says that Wrights franchise, along with three or four others providing homes at this price level in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, are likely to be the most active and successful in the year ahead.
The Rawson Group is expanding in several areas but Gauteng is seeing the fastest growth, he said.
