Property News - 29 August 2014

FROM THE EDITOR

In an article titled Who owns the title deed of your property, Craig Hutchison, CEO Engel & Völkers Southern Africa is explaining the ins and outs of Title Deeds ownership. See a full article below to learn more about this interesting topic.

The report, entitled 'Understanding Africa's middle class,' found there are 15 million middle-class households in 11 of sub-Saharan Africa's top economies this year, up from 4.6 million in 2000 and 2.4 million in 1990 - an increase of 230% over 14 years. For more of this report, read an article titled Standard Bank report confirms strong growth in Africa's rising middle class.

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is putting off thousands of tourists who had planned trips to Africa this year, especially Asians, including to destinations thousands of miles from the nearest infected community such as Kenya and South Africa. On Wednesday, tour operators in Africa and Asia told Reuters that although there are no known cases outside of this epicentre, many tourists are afraid to travel anywhere on the vast continent because of concerns the disease could spread. Read an article titled Ebola fears slowing tourist flow to Africa for more.

We then take a closer look at Hartbeespoort, a small holiday town on the banks of the Hartbeespoort dam nestled comfortably between the slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountain. To learn more about Harties, as it is affectionately called by many South Africans, see the Focus On section of this Newsletter.
