FROM THE EDITOR

Today we start off with 2 articles about the current residential property market in South Africa. According to Dr Andrew Golding, the price of roofs is a function of the number of properties and the amount of money available with which households can compete for them. He points out the three key factors that will make for house price growth in excess of general inflation namely; growing population, growing affluence and limited land and/or housing supply.

First-time sellers are not always entirely sure where to start and what to do. In What to do (and what not to do) when you want to sell your home Bill Rawson, Chairman of the Rawson Property Group, shares some valuable advice with all first time sellers.

The quality and ambience of the street address and surrounding neighbourhood play an important role when looking to buy a new home. Ronald Ennik, for Ennik Estates, believes that it is most encouraging for the residential property sector that the City of Johannesburg has handed an increased budget of R2, 3-billion to its Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) for 2015/16.
